An aspheric lens can be offered with a range of coatings for the Ultraviolet (UV) spectrum, visible light, or Infrared (IR) spectrum. Aspheric lenses utilize a single element design which helps minimize the number of lenses found in multi-lens optical assemblies. The surface of an aspheric lens is designed to eliminate spherical aberration, providing diffraction-limited spot sizes. They are often employed to collimate light exiting a fiber or laser diode.
